Um? Ouch...

Today's ride had to come as one of the hardest in a LONG LONG time. 6174 feet of climbing, 4 major climbs, 3 minor climbs,no cycling legs and all. The positives were this:
good company, blue sunny skies, very little traffic
Um... Ouch is how I can describe my overall body at this point. Ouch tired and ouch pain. I am sitting here curled up in the chair reflecting on the past week. I can only describe it as BUSY. Rush, rush rush is the story of the week. Tomorrow is a new month and the start of the last 8 weeks til IM. WOW, it is almost here. I am seeing YOU TUBE videos and twitter posts of the IM STG bike and run course and all I can think is UM OUCH!
Off for a good sleep and stretch out in bed. Nite Nite!

Recovery days bring....

New thoughts and ideas! Wow recovery days are great! I feel so good today, unlike yesterday when I thought my legs were going to give out all day! With the rest comes new plans and different areas to explore. And new quotes. One of my favorite ones of the day:
"Smash the glass ceilings you have imposed on yourself" Love it! Why do I love it so much?
This year I have made a goal to myself (and no one else) that I was going to be the best I could be in whatever I did. Every day I am going to do the best job in training, work and life in general. I know this blog is about being a champion but that is what it means to me! Being a champion in everything you do. Going above and beyond what you even thought possible.
I promise to be a better blogger and poster and make this a better habit!
Peace!
So go smash those glass celings yourself!

Happy V Day!

Well I wasn't sure I was going to make this week but I did! I felt great until Friday morning when my "perfect recovery world" came crashing down on me. First I could barely swim in the morning. Could barely turn my arms over. WTF? After work (yes much, much later-think 12 hours later!!!) I was attempting intervals on the trainer. 4x 5 min. First one lasted less than one minute. Called the hubs upstairs, " My bike is broken" he said no it's not. You must me tired. So I spinned it out and tried again. This time lasted 1.5 minutes until I thought my head was going to explode along with my legs. Decided it wasn't worth it and was going upstairs. Woke up on Saturday, managed a pretty darn good run and semi Ok ride. Still could not find that leg turnover. Today who knows other than I managed four splendid hours with just 8 "minor" setbacks!!! If you were with me you know what they were! But the definite highlight of the week was my TRX session this afternoon. WOW. LOVE IT. Cannot wait to do again. Guess you can't always have GREAT training and for the most part I do! Think I had a little bugger the last few days that has hopefully worked itself out of me.
Coming up... next weekend's practice Ironman simulation. Yay, a whole day of training!!
Can't wait to see whats in store this week?

Recovery

Everyone should have a sista like mine. Not only is she beautiful, smart, and super funny but she is a master with her hands. That's right I am talking about Ingrid and she is Da Bomb! If you have never been to her for a session, then you don't know what you are missing. Seriously people, what is your problem. She is the best in Monterey County! She will hurt you, make you cry uncle and whip out her special sauce all to make you a more functioning athlete fix all of those hidden aches and pains.

So Sis, this one's for you--Thank you!

Number 14

Well number 14 is in the books and with my leg I never thought I would see the threes in a marathon again. Today proved to be that day. I don't get keyed up for a marathon or stress out. I walked to the start with 8 minutes to spare and timed it perfectly. Bill of course was snapping pics along the street. I felt pretty good today. I haven't really trained for a marathon per se in over 12 years when all I would do was run, run, run track, long long runs etc. Last week was a HUGE volume week and at the beginning of this week I was wasted but cut a few training sessions shorter and took Saturday off (GASP) to run. Plus with my bum leg I really thrive on just running 3 times a week.

I lined up with the 4 hr pacers and then they were starting to slow so I pulled ahead. I stopped twice to potty and both times the 4 hr pacers would be coming by so I knew I wasn't losing much time. At mile 21 (where I usually fall apart) I actually picked up my pace and just ran to the finish. No where along the way did I feel bad. Yay. So the first race of the 2010 season is done and I can tell this year is looking to be good!

SURF CITY USA

Well, we made it to Huntington Beach last night. Maybe a tad later than expected :)
Wow we are really far down here and it is POURING rain. Hope it stops by tomorrow!
It is so weird to lay in bed on a Saturday morning. Is this what normal people do on the weekends? Gonna just lay low the rest of the day, do a little sight seeing, a little visiting and then come back and put my feet up.
More later. Off to find some food.
