Fremonts Peak

Today I had the distinct pleasure of some very good company to accompany on my very first ride up Fremonts Peak. Apparently, you cannot live in this area without at least trying this ride once. It is a nice 50 miler with over 5000+ feet of climbing. The view from the top is AMAZING, the ascent is grueling, and the descent is FAST. That all comes together an epid day. Followed that bad boy with a very fast run. Today was a good day.
These next few weeks will be the final push for St. George. I hope to be alive and kicking and writing a ton. But we will see. Today is T-41 days.
Cheers!

Resting

Resting is not something I do a lot of. Lounging, sleeping, relaxing are not normal activities in my day, especially this time of the year. Long work hours, longer training hours, early mornings, later nights don't leave a lot of room for REST. This past week was something a little different though as I had a recovery week. Recovery week is not about laying around eating bon bons but about letting your body acclimate to the torture you have been inducing it to and letting it soak in. It is also about doing a little something every day for a more reasonable time frame then a normal "training" week. I have to admit, this past week was delightful. But today was the icing on the cake. Not only has it been sunny the past two days and clear skies (well okay a tad windy!) but a little warm too. The sun just made me smile. And at 1pm today, after a long run and short ride I was in bed. Yep, under the covers and in bed. Chillin- veggin- and sleepin. All in one delicious afternoon. I even soaked in the tub, something that is always forgotten during a normal week. My better half soaks at least 5 times a week in the hot tub but I don't have time for it. Today I had time for everything which sets me up for a great week of pounding it out again. Less than 7 weeks now til St. George. Bring it!

Loving it

Don't limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve! - Mary Kay Ash

Love this quote. Love the message. That is how I try and live. That is what fuels my passion for sport. I learned a lot about "believing" in myself in 2008. That was the year of self doubt. Somewhere in late summer, early fall I found myself thinking these exact words. Towards the end of that year and all last year it was all about "no limits." If you even think it, try it. I saw this quote tonight and it just struck something in me. Had to say a little bit about it.

Okay enough of memory tripping! Yay the four week block ended today and the recovery week is on the books for next week. Did I mention YAY? I am so ready for a little training downtime, lighter load and a little more sleep!

Did I also mention on top of swimbikerun, I absolutely love TRX and my training sessions. I love the fact that for one hour I don't have to think! Yay for http://www.bewellpt.com and Jenn. She knows her stuff!

I promise to post more this week and make it a regular habit!

Ciao.
