Adaptation

This adaptation thing has really got me thinking. A 2+ hour run is not even long anymore. . And it follows a long ride? Sure. I think you see things like this and you tackle them. That is what we do. And you do it. Maybe right on target, maybe not but you do it. And you move on. Maybe a few years ago it would be daunting but now its just what you do. And yes, my brain has been working overtime. It seems I think about everything these days. Just call it over-analyzing- and I am trying to turn it off. The other day I was standing in the shower and I forgot why I was in there :)
I saw something that resonated with me the other day on FB that "It is difficult to train for a marathon; but it is even more difficult to not be able to train for a marathon." Is that not the truth or what? It made me really stop and think how lucky I am to do this. I think that and the Wildflower this weekend has made me more appreciative of the fact that I can run. Five years ago marked my return to the Wildflower Long Course after my bike accident. I could hardly "train" but I didn't care as long as I was doing something. So see, I have adapted and I might add, adapted quite well to this IM stuff!
If you are racing WF this weekend, or anywhere -have a blast! So much good stuff happening :)

On my way

This time of year always gets the best of me. I work many hours in the day but I always fit in my training. This year it just worked better to get up at earlier than normal time(gasp.) I know. FREAK. It is what it is and today is the LAST DAY! This past weekend the pressure was lessened and the GREAT TRAINING BEGAN. And because I am still so tired I have resorted to bullet points and I promise now to become a better blogger. (and next year do not let me sign up for an early season Ironman!)
Oh wait who am I kidding, I think Florianopolis is calling me.

- 2 am is the new 4am. Or was. Tomorrow is a whole new day.
- The last tax extension filed a short while ago and I am free.
- I am running again and just like coach said it would be no big deal and I would come back and be faster. Well, he's right.
- The last few weeks I started my build right into the throes of taxes and it was crazy. Proof that you can do it all.
- Seriously, if you take recovery e21 tabs every hour on the hour on a long ride, POOF, its like you didn't do anything
- I am taking a day off from work this week. Can you guess which one?
and it is not tomorrow.
- I want to race. But first I must do more work.
- This is going to be a good year and a good season. I feel it. And its going to be a long one.

Signing off now...Hope everyone has a great week and Happy End of Tax Season!!!

Das Boot

I know the title is catchy but the meaning is not. I broke down last week to have the darn MRI and then went for a run. Fitting, right? I figured if it was bad news I might not run for a while.
Long story short, I will be fine. A grade 1 tendon tear of my post. tib. tendon. 1-2 weeks no running and the use of this lovely boot. (of course many other options were available/presented these are the only ones I heard!)
All in all- good news. What is one more week of no running? Probably nothing.
This all coincides very nicely with upcoming rest week, so good timing. (and the ALMOST END OF TAX SEASON THANK YOU!!!!)

So what to do with the little bit of extra time?

-Retail therapy. Serious retail therapy. My new luxury item: TYR Hurricane Cat 5 wetsuit.
I cannot wait to try this out. It is so silky smooth and fluid. And so pretty!
Hopefully next weekend we can try it out in the lagoon.

- Major ordering from my favorite internet sites. Title Nine, Prana to name a few

- Swimming. Lots.And.Lots O'swimming.

- Riding. Tons and tons

Here's to a happy and healthy week and start to April. This is going to be a great month!
