Twas the night before...

I am so bored. Tired of laying down, legs up, recovery socks on. Tomorrow is the day. Bring what it may. It still is a long workout with a cooldown run at the end. Yay! Whatever the day brings, I am ready. I am not sure you can be more ready? May not (prob wont) be the fastest I can go but I will go and keep on going! Theme of the day... Get er done!
Picture of the machine that will be with me the most tomorrow- Baby

Registration

Race Registration went smoothly. In and out in a few minutes after signing your name on every line, realizing the dangers, blah, blah blah. 5-6 minutes done. Something new this year that IMSTG is doing though is tattoo numbers. I for one am always down for getting a tattoo so sign me in. They are your number and age group body markings traditionally done race morning. They are trying to save time Saturday morning due to being bussed to the start therefore, voila 7 day waterproof stenciled tatoos. Sounds easy right? NOT. The lines were more than 2 hrs wait time long. But yes, we did get them. Proof is in the pictures. Not much else too exciting here. The temps are cool today and super windy. Think at least three layers and a beanie. Been laying down since 1m. Yay!
In other not so exciting news Greg and I rode this morning for 45 minutes. All I can say is WIND, HOLY WIND!

St. George Day 2

This is St. George, Utah and it is really very pretty. It is raw, rugged and red! Everywhere you look there are these Red Mountains all around and in small, medium and large size. Today we drove over to the swim start at Sand Hollow Reservoir in Hurricane, Utah about 30 mins away. It is a dam filled lake surrounded by red mountains and then huge snow capped mountains above them. Again, very pretty scenery for a swim backdrop. Then we decided to drive the bike course to see just how brutal this was going to be.

We saw a lot of roads leading up, up. I have posted a few pics to show. This course is very hard and definitely not a PR course but finishing this race will be awesome! More to come

Road Trip

The road trip started at 330am this morning and was spent driving thru 4 states. I am not a very good companion for a long road trip nor do I enjoy sitting/laying/reclining in the car for 10 hours. I alternated napping or crying (after reading this :

A little after 2pm (well 3pm local time) we made it. As evident here:
A little preview of the ensuing run course was up next as soon as we unloaded the car. All I can say is if you have ever done Wildflower this is about 100x harder. Excuse my poor videography you get the picture though.

So more updates tomorrow. I need a really good night of sleep!

Ciao...

Been M.I.A... but not for long

Just realized the last time I wrote was over a month ago? Why you say? Well, training and work and life. The craziest time at work the past two months and in between I somehow managed to fit in MASSIVE training weeks often in the wee early morning hours or 7-9pm (when I should have been getting ready for bed!) So all in due time I am changing my ways and going to be more faithful to the blog I started to chronicle my journey this year!
OMG... IM STG is a week away! Last time I even bothered to count it was something like 97 days away. Now less than 7***
It is really funny how the more you do these events you trust you are ready to do them. First of all you know that you can do the distance. Second, your biggest fear about making the time cut off is not even an issue (not being a know it all /superstar or anything but there are some things you just know) The last thing I realized today is it really is not that far. Really? You do the training which is more time consuming than ever and then you get to put it all together in one catered day. NOBIGDEAL! I know, ask me if I still feel the same next weekend!
The best part of this distance and endurance events in general is that the make me feel strong. Not Arnold strong just like "I totally can do this Strong." I have a new motto for the day as many of my friends are doing Big Sur tomorrow (which I am bummed about not partaking in any of the events) is that 26.2 is my cooldown. That is right. My cool down. My finish. Another day another journey.
I don't usually like the whole tapering thing. I don't get it. But this time. I totally get it and am loving it. I feel like every day I get more rested and that game day I will feel AWESOME.
I am trying not to get caught up in every blog/twitter/facebook about the weather in St. George or the water temp or anything because everybody goes through the same thing. I won't be the only one being cold/hot/wet etc. So stay tuned. More to come. More updates. More often. We have a full summer/season of opportunities/races/challenges. Watch out :)
